  • Great as nearfield monitor

Rocket 4.1

Tonal accuracy

The Rocket 4.1 is a fast, articulate and highly accurate mini monitor. With low distortion and great transient attack, you will love it as the fronts in a high quality stereo or surround setup or as desktop nearfield monitors.
The graph shows the gated frequency response from 500-20kHz smoothed to 1/12th octave.

Low frequency driver

The Rocket 4.1 uses the SB12NRX midwoofer.  This driver features an advanced low distortion ferrite motor, that integrates to a rigid and aerodynamically optimised cast aluminum chassis. Furthermore a few highlights:

  • Proprietary cone material with natural fibres made in-house
  • High damping Butyl rubber surround for non-resonant sound character
  • Vented pole piece for reduced compression
  • Vented cast aluminium chassis for optimum strength and low compression
  • CCAW voice coil for reduced moving mass
  • Long life silver lead wires
  • Non-conducting fibre glass coil former for minimum damping

High frequency driver

The high radiating area along with a remarkably low free air resonance of 600hz are unmistakable features contributing to the unusually relaxed, undistorted and extended sound of this driver.

  • Non-resonant diaphragm design for minimum high frequency break-up
  • Dual balanced compression chamber for improved dynamics
  • Copper cap for reduced voice coil inductance and minimum phase shift
  • Saturation controlled motor system for low distortion
  • Non-reflective rear chamber with optimized damping for improved dynamics
  • Flow optimized vented pole piece for optimum coupling to rear chamber
  • CCAW voice coil for low moving mass
  • Long life silver lead wires
  • Low resonance frequency

Through extensive simulation and countless listening sessions, a crossover frequency of 2.6kHz is ideally suited to this driver combination. With 4th order acoustical slopes in the crossover region converging to higher order outside the blending region we are able to handover to the tweeter completely seamlessly with incredible realism in this critical region of the audio spectrum. The crossover is carefully designed to provide great time alignment between the drivers as well as a benign impedance for good amplifier compatibility.

Cabinet construction

The 100% hand finished cabinet is made from cross laminated birch veneer sourced from our sustainable forestry suppliers in Europe. The precision CNC machined curvatures throughout the speakers surfaces, along with internal bracing result in a very rigid cabinet with good control of vibrations and resonances. The internal cabinet geometry is designed to disperse reflections, eliminating standing waves effectively. This results in less coloration and with the use of natural wool as internal damping material the resulting sound is truly state of the art.

Finished in beautiful birds eye maple real wood veneer with a blend of natural oils and waxes to brings out the natural beauty of the wood. The finish coatings is environmentally friendly with industry leading low emissions.

The Rocket 4.1 has been designed specifically with a subwoofer in mind. To get the full engagement of the entire audio spectrum, the M8audio SUB OneTen is our suggestion for a musical subwoofer with muscle and poise to perfectly blend with the Rocket 4.1.
